| Pic'n'Mix Sweets |
Remember the days when you walked into your local sweet shop and asked for a ten pence mix? When you could get two Black jacks for a penny? Two ounces of rainbow drops? Half and half of pink and white bonbons? Those were the days!
As a child, you were awestruck at the array of sweets available at the olde fashioned sweet shop. Jar after jar of delicious tasting treats. From floor to ceiling the jars stood proud and shouting buy me, buy me! |

The boxes on the counter were filled with penny mix sweets, liquorice Catherine wheels, Bazooka Joes, with their free transfer and joke, Pink shrimps, White mice and Gob stoppers!
Gone are the days when you could have 2 ounces of multi-coloured Kayli and a stick of the extra hard paddle shaped Basset's liquorice. But never fear... the sweet shop is making a comeback! |

Woolworths once dominated the pic 'n' mix sweet market, but with their unfortunate demise, the most famous sweet stands of the eighties were gone, but were never forgotten. Several large shops have since tried to pick up what Woolworths started, but most people know, it's just not the same.
Although pic'n'mix was the best way to buy your favourite sweets, it was not always the most hygienic way to sell them. Clear perspex boxes were crammed full to the top with mouth watering delights, ranging from Jelly Beans to Coconut Mushrooms, each morsel was tempting to children and adults alike. Children would go missing while their parents perused the rest of the shop, only to find their offspring loitering with intent around the Midget Gems and the Lemon Bonbons! Although scoops were provided to cram your favourite sweets into the bag, occasionally you would see excited youngsters using their bare hands! That was alright if the toffees had wrappers on them, but most didn't!
Now, with the pic'n'mix range of sweets, brought to you by www.aquarterof.co.uk, you can purchase your old favourites from years gone by, with the knowledge that they have not been man-handled by half of the population! The only difference is, they sell a quarter of a kilo, which is in fact 8.8 ounces! Which equates to over half a pound of delicious mouth watering delights.
